The Porch Project (MFA Thesis)
The Porch Project is an interactive social history of the American Front porch. Using GPS, maps, photos, video, audio, text, online communities, and open web APIs, I transpose the history of a material object onto the landscape of modern American cities.
This project was originally completed as my MFA thesis at Northwestern University’s School of Communication in the Documentary Radio/TV/Film program. It was presented in 2007 at the Mobilized mobile technology conference in New York City. The Porch Project was generously funded in part by the Garry Marshall Media Arts Grant.

I have been working in web and interactive media for over ten years. Starting out as a visual designer and front end developer, I have spent the last few years focusing on user experience design and strategy. In other words, I make things work and make them better.
